Network setupn |
To provide Password Safe to other users a network installation is suggestive.
Professional Edition (or Enterprise Edition without server) Copy or create the databases (*.ped) in a network share. Then all clients can set up a connection to the databases in the network share via the client, via set up database. Furthermore you also copy your created license file "psr5.lic" on the network share. The license file can be loaded by the client via help -> license overview -> open license file.
Enterprise Edition with Enterprise server The Enterprise Edition only needs a common network share for the license file (and possibly also the configuration file). The database itself does no lie in the network share because it is accessed per TCP/IP via an IP address of the server. Direct access to the database file is not designated here. Copy your created license file "psr5.lic" to the network share. The license file can be loaded by the client via help -> license overview -> open license file.
Directly start the software out of the network share Alternatively you can also deposit the whole software in a network share. To do so install the software on a client, and then copy all files from the program directory (e.g. C:\programs\Password Safe and Repository) to the network share. On the clients you can then only create a link-up with "psr.exe" on the network share, on the desktop or in the quick start bar.
Shared configuration file (not suggested) We formally suggest to use an own off line configuration file for each user.
Normally each user has its own configuration file. You can change this by also depositing a configuration file in the network share. As soon as the software finds a configuration file in the same directory it will be used. The advantage it that all clients can now access this configuration file and therefore all database accounts are immediately available to all clients. So the clients do not have to be set up separately.
The off line configuration file of the clients is started under Vista in the following directory:
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\PasswordSafe\psr.pcf
Provide databases with the module "Network Logon" Via the additional module "Network Logon" you can centrally provide database configurations. Furthermore you can carry out an automatic logon at the database with it and therefore do not have to give the database password to your employees. You can find further information under "Congfigure network logon".
Silent Install - paremeter The Password Safe installer can optionally carried out invisibly to for example provide it to users automatically via a packet assembling software.
Silent Mode Parameter "/q" und "/q2": - psr-5.X.X.XXXX.exe /q: Silent Install. Uninstall and installation status will be displayed in a window.
- psr-5.X.X.XXXX.exe /q2: Invisible Install. The installation and de-installation is carried out invisibly for the user.
Download MSI package: Alternatively we offer an MSI package for the installation of the client as a download. You can load it down under the following link:
