Database concept

In Version 5 there are three different database concepts. Normally the choice of the edition depends on the usage and the number of users.

 

•Singleuser (1 user, not network-compatible, only database login)
•Multiuser (1-20 users, database login and user login)
•Client-/Server (1-n users, database login and user login)

 

Which databases you can use depends on which edition you have bought.

 

•Standard Edition -> Singleuser
•Professional Edition -> Singleuser, Multiuser
•Enterprise Edition -> Singleuser, Multiuser and Client-/Server

 

Advice for Standard Edition:

Through the new concept the Standard Edition is no longer network-compatible, but has therefore been improved in functionality. Customers who use the Standard Edition in the network can upgrade to Professional Edition cheaply.

 

Advice for multi user operation (Professional and Enterprise Edtition):

If you want to use the Professional or Enterprise Edition with more than 20 users this is technically possible in the multi user operation and also not restricted. However we recommend to change to the Enterprise Edition with Enterprise server, to client/server operation from 20 users on, because here the performance is considerably higher than at a database which is accessed directly via a network share.
